do you really want to run the latest OS on old kludged hardware that has
SO many limitations at the h/w level that it is impossible to get the
results that most users want?

The future OSs will all rely on having standard access to standard
hardware. we're talking about the basics that other machines have.
PCI, USB, firewire. If the new OS and Amiga are to live, they'll need the
killer apps. to get the killer apps you need to have the I/O
(no point having digital video s/w if you cant GET the data in!)
and the performance. the current limits that the old A1200 motherboard
causes is now, imho, diabolical. the CPU inside your computer (and mine)
is great. it would be even better with an L2 cache and proper memory
access speeds.

do we STILL want to pay out lots of money for standard things? Still tied
down to SIMMs when people now use 256Mb for 20 ukp DIMM memory?

lets face it, its just the Blizzardcard and the graphics card that are a
little pricey. the A1200 motherboard is cheap.

I'm not keen on all of these other solutions people are following (eg
Predtor/GRex - which forces you to keep your BlizzardPPC) but the AmigaOne
is a system that can plug into my A1200....and when os4.2 comes out I get
to keep my A1200 as it currently is and the AmigaOne will go in its own
case and carry on the evolution
